Last season, Jaxon Smith-Njigba firmly established himself as one of the NFL’s elite pass-catchers.
For years, Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase were widely considered the top receivers in the game. But JSN crashed that party by leading the league and setting a Seattle Seahawks franchise record with 1,793 receiving yards during the 2025-26 campaign. He also earned Offensive Player of the Year honors, and his team captured the Super Bowl title.
It was a remarkable season for the 24-year-old wideout.
So, what can we expect from him next?
Let’s examine the early projections from DraftKings Sportsbook as of early May.
**Regular-season receiving yards**
Over 999.5: -110 (bet $10 to win $19.09 total)
Under 999.5: -110 (bet $10 to win $19.09 total)
Only 1,000 yards? That seems… a bit low.
Last season was JSN’s third in the league. As a rookie, he posted 628 yards, and in his sophomore year, he totaled 1,130 yards. He has never missed a game in his career.
Furthermore, those 1,793 yards from last season rank as the eighth-most single-season receiving yards in NFL history. Only 15 players have ever exceeded 1,700 yards in a season (Tyreek Hill has done it twice).
So why such a modest over/under? Perhaps the books are simply playing it safe.
Or maybe it’s based on history: Of the 15 players who have reached 1,700 yards in a season, 11 saw their yardage drop by at least 400 the following year. The only exceptions are Hill (1,710 then 1,799) and Chase (1,708 then 1,412). Then there are JSN and Puka Nacua, both of whom went over 1,700 last season, so we haven’t yet seen their follow-up performances.
