
A ball girl fell ill during the second-round match between Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov and Kazakhstan’s Alexander Shevchenko at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Rome. The incident occurred early in the first set, with Khachanov leading 5-4. Noticing the girl’s distress, Khachanov approached her and immediately called for medical assistance. After receiving treatment, the match resumed without further issues.
Khachanov went on to win the match 6-4, 6-4, advancing to the next round. He will face either Dutch player Botic van de Zandschulp or American Alexander Kovacevic. The Rome tournament, which boasts a prize fund of €8.235 million, is scheduled to conclude on May 17.
