Australian Lucas Herbert secured the LIV Golf Virginia title with a total score of -23, though he had to battle until the very end against a charging Sergio García. The final round at Trump National Golf Club saw several players eager to spoil his party, including another Spaniard, Josele Ballester, but none could prevent Herbert from clinching his first win on the Saudi-backed circuit.
The Castellón native came close to overtaking Herbert midway through the round after reeling off four consecutive birdies. Just as Herbert seemed to waver for the first time — having made a double bogey — the Australian managed to sink a tricky four-meter putt while García missed a much shorter one, restoring a two-shot cushion. That margin proved decisive, allowing Herbert to regain momentum and leaving García unable to respond, though he finished a strong second at -20.

Ballester Shines Over the Weekend
One of the standout performers at LIV Golf Virginia was another Spaniard from Castellón, Josele Ballester, who added another Top 15 finish to his LIV Golf resume with aggressive and efficient play. His third-round 60 carried over into Sunday with a 67, propelling him into the top spots at -17.
Less inspired this time was the dominant force of LIV Golf, Jon Rahm from the Basque Country. He still made the Top 10 but never had a realistic shot at the win in Virginia.

The Spaniard, who remains uncertain about his participation in the Open de España due to his wife’s pregnancy, fought hard as always but was not at his sharpest. At several points, he looked destined for his worst LIV Golf result. However, he rallied with an eagle on the 17th hole, turning from +1 to -2, and added a final birdie to finish at -15.
David Puig Continues Hot Streak
Another Fireballs standout, Barcelona’s David Puig, put in another strong showing in Virginia with a final-round 67 for a total of -12. He continues an impressive LIV Golf season, currently sitting seventh in the overall standings.
Puig and Ballester pushed for the team victory as well, entering a playoff but ultimately falling to the 4Aces of Detry and Anthony Kim after Puig made a bogey, leaving the Fireballs in second place.
Now the LIV Golf circuit takes a break as the second Major of the season, the PGA Championship, begins this Thursday at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania. Jon Rahm and David Puig will be among the top-ranked players in the field, along with Malaga’s Ángel Ayora, who despite his struggles at the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship, will compete in the tournament where world number one Scottie Scheffler is the defending champion.
