The Indianapolis Colts had reportedly agreed that young quarterback Anthony Richardson could explore a trade if a suitable deal emerged. However, no trade materialized, and sources indicate there was little interest in Richardson from other teams—a telling sign of how the league views him.

No franchise was willing to take a chance on the former top prospect to see what he could offer. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer shared his assessment of Richardson’s predicament, and it paints a grim picture for the short term.

“I don’t have a ton of hope for Anthony Richardson Sr., if we’re being honest,” Breer wrote. “But staying with the Colts for now does give him an opportunity he wouldn’t get elsewhere—first-team reps while Daniel Jones recovers from Achilles surgery.”

For now, Richardson appears set to remain a Colt. With Jones rehabbing, Richardson is receiving starter’s snaps in practice. Few—if any—other teams would offer him such a chance. His best move is to bide his time, refine his skills, and hope for a chance to prove he has improved.

But the silence from other teams speaks volumes. A once-promising prospect now has no suitors. That’s the tough reality of the NFL.
