Actors Arón Piper and Marco Cáceres recently appeared on the Spanish talk show ‘El Hormiguero’ to promote their new film ‘Hugo 24’, which hits theaters this Friday, May 15. The movie follows Hugo, a young man caught between insecurity and the anxiety of growing up, facing an imminent eviction.

During the interview, the duo opened up about their deep friendship, revealing that they lived together for a full year in the same room when they were starting out. “Marco took me in, and I moved into his shared apartment with just a small mattress on the floor,” Piper recalled. “We slept in the same room for a year. Then one roommate left, and I took over his room.”

Cáceres added, “We lived together for a total of twelve years. Those were beautiful years, perhaps the best of our lives. Even though we didn’t have much money, we ate well because another roommate was a chef, and I’ve always loved cooking. If I weren’t an actor, I’d be a chef.”

The film ‘Hugo 24’ tells the story of a young man facing eviction who lives with his brother. Along with his friend, played by Cáceres, they have 24 hours to raise the money needed to avoid being kicked out. Both actors spoke about the joy of working with a close friend. “It’s an advantage. We understand each other with just a glance,” Piper said. Cáceres agreed, “It was very natural and easy. Everything turned out lively and authentic.”

When asked about their contrasting personalities, Piper admitted he is not a morning person. “I need about three hours to become human again. My brain takes time to wake up. I’m nocturnal, while Marco is a morning person.” Cáceres described himself as very active, nervous, and extremely invasive until Piper taught him to respect personal space.

Discussing relationships, Cáceres noted he has been with his girlfriend for ten years, while Piper said he tends to have shorter relationships. Both actors shared experiences of working odd jobs—Cáceres as a waiter, dishwasher, and flyer distributor, and Piper handing out flyers on Montera Street—emphasizing how those struggles made them appreciate their current success. Cáceres now co-owns a group of restaurants in Madrid and a vodka brand, while Piper runs his own functional beverage brand, Dr. Mush.
