Russian star Mira Andreeva has booked her spot in the quarterfinals of the women’s singles at the Rome Open, where she will face American Coco Gauff in a highly anticipated clash on the clay courts.
Andreeva secured her place with a commanding 6-3, 6-3 victory over Belgium’s Elise Mertens in the round of 16, a match that lasted just one hour and 18 minutes. Meanwhile, Gauff earned her quarterfinal berth after a hard-fought three-set win over fellow American Eva Yovitch, 5-7, 7-5, 6-2, earlier on Monday.
Ahead of this marquee matchup, Gauff holds a dominant 4-0 head-to-head record against Andreeva, having won seven consecutive sets between them. However, the young Russian enters the contest with impressive momentum on clay this season. She has posted 15 wins against just two losses on the surface, reached the final of the Madrid Open, and advanced to the semifinals or better in every clay-court tournament she has played in 2026.
