The Football Club “Ufa” has announced plans to appeal the technical defeat imposed for their no-show in the match against SKA-Khabarovsk. On Saturday, May 2, a drone threat alert was declared in the Republic of Bashkortostan, leading to the closure of airspace. As a result, Ufa was unable to fly out in time for their away match in the 32nd round of the First League against SKA-Khabarovsk, scheduled for the following day.
On Tuesday, May 5, it was reported that the Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union (CDC RFU) had decided to award Ufa a technical defeat for failing to appear for the game.
“If we receive a reasoned justification for this decision and understand where and how we could have performed better, I think we would accept it. But as of today, we do not see a single point in the regulations that would allow the CDC to make this decision. Therefore, I believe we will file an appeal and see what the committee decides this time,” said Sanaya.
Ufa currently sits in 15th place in the First League standings, just one point above the relegation zone. Thanks to the technical victory, SKA-Khabarovsk climbed to 13th place, securing their safety from relegation to the Second League.
